Suddenly driving down the M6 my heart begins to thump. “What’s happening to me” I wonder as I pull over onto the hard shoulder. This was to mark the beginning of more panic attacks triggered by my flagging confidence. I had gained weight, lost my self esteem, and was not in a good place. As I attended business meetings all I wanted to do was hide in the bathroom to escape the pressure that I could manage no longer. As the days passed things only got worse. My confidence tumbled, my panic attacks became more frequent, and the ambitions I once had seemed no more. It all became too much so I resigned my job with little money in the bank and few material belongings to call my own. The following weeks I took to my bed, curtains closed, and any ambition I once had, had dispersed.
Several weeks passed by and I decided enough was enough. There had to be something that could be done. Something clicked and I took action to strengthen the belief in myself by using the power of my mind to restore my confidence. The results were positive and I was, at last, in a position to rebuild my life, get a new job, and move forward with a more optimistic attitude. I managed to find a new job and worked my way up the career ladder to board level. Knowing the mind was so powerful I also trained to become a Certified Coach and Hypnotherapist, knowing that one day I would work with others who were experiencing similar confidence knocks. I became a Distinction Graduate of Hypnotherapy and decided to focus on working with clients specialising in working with executives wanting to increase their confidence, reduce panic attacks, and improve their self image and self belief.
Life moved on well as my belief became rock solid. In 2003 I took the plunge and set up my own business and was determined to make it the success it is today. As someone that was written off at school I made it my mission to destroy any limiting beliefs and wrote my first book. The year after I attained my first publishing deal and have since then achieved a book deal year after year. I was working with some fabulous clients corporate and individual and then set my next goal (note - it really is important to set the next goal as soon as the current one is achieved). My new goal was to attain my own factual entertainment TV series. The consistent effort I applied lead me to become the presenter of Sky1’s Fat Families which was a huge success bringing in strong ratings. What next I thought? Well it was now time to go to Europe. In early 2011 I was asked to present a motivational TV series in Holland, again a huge success. What next you may ask. Watch this space!!!
My own journey has been rocky. Like you, I have had knock backs, self doubt, feelings of panic, and times of limited self confidence. But the good news is that confidence can be developed and your belief can increase so that your goals are met.
